Set up BuyerPing for HubSpot

BuyerPing puts every buyer it finds into HubSpot as a contact, a company and a deal, with the evidence attached. When the deal moves, BuyerPing hears about it and learns which signals actually close.

Before you start

  • A BuyerPing account

You connect HubSpot to a workspace, so you need to be an Owner or Admin of one.

  • A HubSpot user who can install apps

HubSpot asks the person connecting to approve BuyerPing for their portal.

Connect HubSpot

There are two ways in. Both end with the same connection.

From BuyerPing
  1. Open your workspace and go to Destinations.
  2. Find HubSpot and choose Connect.
  3. Pick your HubSpot portal and approve the permissions.
  4. You come back to BuyerPing with HubSpot marked Connected.
From the HubSpot Marketplace
  1. Choose Install on the BuyerPing listing.
  2. Pick your HubSpot portal and approve the permissions.
  3. Sign in to BuyerPing if you are not already.
  4. Confirm which workspace the portal belongs to. Nothing is connected until you do.

When you connect, BuyerPing adds three custom properties to your portal so it has somewhere to put its score. They are listed below.

What BuyerPing creates in HubSpot

Each lead you send to HubSpot becomes these records, linked to each other.

RecordWhat goes in it
CompanyThe company name and domain, when BuyerPing knows them.
ContactOnly when the lead names a person: name, email and job title where known, plus the BuyerPing score and intent.
DealNamed after the person, or the company when there is no person, and the play that found them, with the BuyerPing score. It arrives without a stage, so set one to put it on your board.
Note on the dealThe receipt: the buyer's own words and a link to where they said it.
Task on the dealOnly when you approved a suggested first message, so it is not lost.

Custom properties

PropertyObjectHolds
BuyerPing score (bp_score)ContactHow well the lead fits and how strong the intent is, 0 to 100.
BuyerPing intent class (bp_intent)ContactThe kind of intent the signal showed, such as evaluating.
BuyerPing score (bp_score)DealThe same score, so you can sort and report on deals by it.

What comes back to BuyerPing

When a deal BuyerPing created changes stage in your default sales pipeline, the lead in BuyerPing updates to match.

When the deal moves toThe lead in BuyerPing becomes
Appointment scheduledMeeting booked
Closed wonWon
Closed lostLost

Stages in other pipelines, and stage names you have renamed or added, are not read back yet.

What BuyerPing never does

  • It never changes a deal's stage or pipeline. Moving deals is your team's call.
  • It never emails, messages or calls your contacts.
  • It ignores changes to deals it did not create.

Permissions it asks for

PermissionWhy BuyerPing needs it
crm.objects.contacts.writeTo create the contact for each lead.
crm.objects.companies.writeTo create the company the lead works at.
crm.objects.deals.writeTo create the deal and attach the receipt to it.
crm.objects.deals.readTo see when a deal it created changes stage.
crm.schemas.contacts.writeTo add the two BuyerPing properties to contacts, once.
crm.schemas.deals.writeTo add the BuyerPing score property to deals, once.
oauthRequired by HubSpot for any app that connects through sign-in.

Disconnecting

  1. In BuyerPing, go to Destinations, open HubSpot and choose Disconnect. BuyerPing deletes its access to your portal and stops sending leads.
  2. To remove the app from HubSpot as well, open Settings in HubSpot, then Integrations, then Connected Apps, and uninstall BuyerPing.

Records BuyerPing already created stay in HubSpot, and so do the custom properties. You can delete either in HubSpot at any time. BuyerPing keeps its own history of what it delivered.
